Punta Gorda Airport Apron Expansion

Wright Construction provided services for the expansion of the commercial airline apron at Punta Gorda Airport. This was required to receive three additional Allegiant Airlines aircraft. The expansion process consisted of  2,433 SY of 8” thick concrete paving, as well as 745 tons of flexible asphalt paving. The concrete pavement base was constructed of recycled concrete aggregate, and the asphalt base utilized 14” of the lime rock base. Site preparations included clearing and grubbing of the construction area as well as removal and replacement of a dump station necessary for the servicing of the aircraft. The existing aluminum canopy was extended to accommodate the three new gates and offer protection for passengers boarding flights. As a federally funded project, documentation required all EEO reports, certified payrolls, and specialty wage rate requirements.
