Punta Gorda Airport Apron Expansion

The project included expanding the commercial airline apron to receive three additional Allegiant Airlines aircraft. It consisted of 8,576 SY of 15” thick, and 2,433 SY of 8” thick concrete paving as well as 745 tons of flexible asphalt paving. The concrete pavement base was constructed of recycled concrete aggregate and the asphalt base utilized 14” of limerock base. Site preparations included clearing and grubbing of the construction area and removal and replacement of a dump station necessary for the servicing of the aircraft. The existing aluminum canopy was extended to accommodate the three new gates and offer protection for passengers boarding flights. As a federally funded project, documentation required all EEO reports, certified payrolls, and specialty wage rate requirements, etc.
